OVERVIEW

Rugged portable and laptop computers are designed for tough environments, but are built in large numbers with common configurations. Sometimes an application demands a change — from the simple mounting of an external GPS connector to a complete I/O transition to rugged MIL connectors (38999 circular connectors and similar), integration of 1553, fiber, and more.

ProCustom was founded to address this need. Commercial laptop manufacturers are not set up to perform these modifications, and are often unwilling to consider customization without an advance commitment of 500–1,000 units.

What we modify

01I/O modification. From adding an external GPS connector to full transition to 38999 MIL circular connectors for radio, power, or data.
02Custom PCBs. Our electrical engineers design and manufacture circuit boards, controllers, and interfaces to integrate specialized components.
03Peripheral & sensor integration. Customer-furnished GPS modules, communication radios, and specialized sensors built into the rugged chassis.
04Bus integration. 1553, fiber, and other specialized communication interfaces.
05Display modification. Sunlight readability and Night Vision Imaging System compatibility to MIL-STD-3009.
06Thermal management. Thermal analysis and custom cooling for operation in extreme temperature environments.
07Custom enclosures. Designed and built to integrate with a COTS base unit where modification alone is not enough.
08Finishes & coatings. Custom colors, CARC paint, and custom labeling or branding for military and industrial applications.
09EMC design. Shielding and design expertise to meet strict military and industrial electromagnetic compatibility standards.
10System integration. Final assembly, configuration, and image loading of customer-specified operating systems and applications.
